PS3 exclusive Infamous is the latest game to line up for a mauling by Hollywood. Screenwriter Sheldon Turner (who perhaps most famously wrote the script for, er…Adam Sandler vehicle The Longest Yard {a remake}) has had his pitch picked up by – shock! horror! Sony Pictures. Turner, who has possibly heard of video games, was quoted by Hollywood Reporter thus:
“What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I’ve come across that had a big idea and a character arc,” Turner said. “It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is.”
Producers for the movie will be Avi Arad and Ari Arad, who are also involved in producing the upcoming Uncharted movie, and have already produced “The Incredible Hulk” and “Iron Man”. Will this be the faithful, top quality movie adaptation we’ve all been waiting for?
Nah.
