2 Grand Theft Auto IV Mods

I loved it when GTAIV hit the shelves for the consoles and love it more so when I got my little fingers on it for the PS3, once completed the game soon became boring….I wanted more but as the PS3 doesn’t have any DLC for it it ended up being traded in. I even gave Saints Row 2 a bash but again that became boring after it was completed. The multiplayer on GTAIV was fun to start with but soon became tedious with people camping all the time.

I then started watching over GTA Forums as the PC version was due out any day and I wanted to get as much info about it as possible and maybe buy it one day. The release day passed and I started to notice a few mods popup that I found interesting 2 of which I will tell you about here.

One thing I thought my laptop/notebook wouldn’t run was GTAIV but I bought it anyway and was really surprised to find it runs fine…sometimes I get low frame rates but nothing to write about really. However, once I had completed the game I was sat wondering what I could do and there was 2 options infront of me.

  1. Ignore all the posts about hackers online and give it a try anyway!
  2. Uninstall it and let it collect dust somewhere….
  3. Find some cool mods and see how long it took until I got bored!

So on with searching for mods….I found 2 really cool mods that are related to the same thing but are still so different from each other I have equal amounts of fun playing them.

The first mod I found was the Police Pursuit Mod from Team NEO and that basically allows you to be a police officer. The main aim of that mod is to have long pursuits but there is a mission that involves arresting/killing a very crazy bloke who has a rocket launcher and trust me after you get blown up 5 times from it you begin to realise that you may need the help of a swat team! So with a press of a button, the mission is done.

The police chases are really good too and quite realistic, and thats the main purpose of the mod. So far I have only done what I have been told via Dispatch and not had anyone just randomly flee from me. The mod is always being updated with new features and as its in Beta some features are taken away too, especially if people dont like them.

Here is a video with a download link below it, the next mod is also written about below that too, so just scroll down! :)

Download from: Team Neo

Next one I found was the Liberty City First Response Mod which you can get from here also for free.
Unlike the Police Pursuit Mod mentioned above you have alot more options on this. You can search people on the street for stolen stuff or you can just arrest them, and pretty much like real life some people will try and run from you which means you have to chase them down and maybe tase them if you want to be sadistic lol…I feel nothing hurts more than a bullet to the legs though!…and yes you read right, TASE THEM Mr Mysterious the creator of the mod has decided to make a taser for the mod which is cool. You can also pull people over, this feature is pretty much still being worked on as the cars will just stop wherever they want instead of the side of the road as you would do in real life. You then approach the drivers side window where you will see a circle on the ground to stand in. You can then ask the driver to get out of his vehicle in order for you to search him/her or as I do – earn some money and give them a ticket or citation as its called in the US of A. Not everyone will stop, it could end up being a chase but usually the criminal ends up being shot at and dies unless you are really lucky and get him to give up straight away. I had a chase that lasted 15 minutes and ended with me firing a rocket at the criminal – JOB DONE!

Both mods can be discussed over at GTAForums.com as that’s where I originally found them along with many other mods I have yet to try.
